My weekend has been lovely so far. Perfect mix of chillaxing and being productive. Last night, two very good friends and I made dinner at my friend's apartment. It was probably the healthiest meal we consumed together.. err.. ever. And such a nice alternative to eating out. Not only was it cheap- less than $10 per person, but we were able to spend some quality time- no distractions, and have the satisfaction of a great meal.
Then this morning after doing my laundry, (always another big accomplishment) I met up with my parents and sister at a gallery in Chelsea. Can't believe I haven't seen my sister in 5 months. We saw some inspiring artwork and I even managed to work in some exercise- walked about 2 miles to the gallery. Then we ate at one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in the city- Pepe Giallo on 10 Ave and 25th street. Totally reasonable and every dish was scrumptious. I grabbed their business card and realized they were owned by the same people as Pepe Rosso in Grand Central- where I sometimes indulge with the best prosciutto/ mozzarella paninis.
As if my day weren't any more perfect, I saw the new Indiana Jones movie with a good friend. I LOVE INDIANA JONE'S MOVIES. Every time I see them, it makes me want to become an archaeologist. Part of me is deeply interested in history, archeology and art history until I realize that maybe I'm better off focusing on the presence. There was one cheesy line that resonated with me as obvious as it is.. that knowledge is the biggest treasure. It goes back to everything in life- the idea of what is true, people gaining power by hiding knowledge, getting through life with knowledge, etc. Sweet Dreams.
