Quickbook Pro '06 for Macs Quickly DELETES ALL DESKTOP FILES

So my friend just told me this horror story and I thought I'd share so it doesn't happen to any of you Mac people. When you use Quickbook Pro '06, it asks you if you want to automatically update the program, and no matter how you answer, it will say you don't have enough space. THEN it will delete what's on your desktop to create space, including any desktop folders! So if you keep every important document at your fingertips and on your desktop, you're screwed. Apparently this is a recent problem within the last few days-- perfect timing to totally mess up any small companies who are just closing their 2007 books.

Before you even attempt to open this program, back up your files and put them in your documents folder. This link sort of explains everything although I don't completely understand what the guy means.
